Correct me if I'm wrong, but is there no way to make any content adjustments within the app itself? I was surprised to realize this. ie. The only way to fix a typo/change the setlist order/add a new song to the list/etc is to go back to my computer or DropBox app and edit the actual txt files (and then re-sync them in the app). Before I got my android tablet, I've gotten used to an iPad app called MySongBook, in which I'm *constantly* tweaking songs on the spot (especially adjusting the scroll time, since that's a little hard to predict). And it's nice to be able to take a request in the middle of a set, ie. adding a new song to the setlist without leaving the setlist. It would be nice to be able to open a basic text editor inside the app to change the text of something. Though perhaps that would complicate the DropBox syncing process? Other than that, I LOVE the amount of precise control this app offers. Many thanks EDIT: I just realized I posted this under the "LP for Windows" section (whereas I'm using Android), but I think the same feature would apply to PCs

Yes, this was a conscious design decision to have a clear workflow: create / edit on a "large" device (PC / Mac) and consume / use on a "small" device. This also makes the whole process of keeping the device in sync with the dropbox a lot less complicated.
As you describe, the only way to make quick fixes on an Android device is to use the Dropbox app, make the changes and re-sync.
That's just the way the whole concept of managing data with LivePrompter is built upon - and that's the shortcoming of it. Unfortunately, this is a consequence of the way I designed this - and it's not going to change. I don't want to get into all the conflict handling of a two-way sync process, especially since a typical use case (for which I built LivePrompter the way it is) is multiple musicians working from the same song base - the same files in a common dropbox. Just imagine all the syncing and conflict management issues if everybody starts making conflicting changes to the songs while we're in rehearsal...
No, LivePrompter is built on a more rigid concept of content flow - this keeps things nice and orderly, but requires more advance preparation. Then in an actual gigging situation, there's hardly the time and attention to make edits anyhow.
Regarding deviations from an existing setlist (spontaneous requests): that's what the search function is for. When I want to take a request, I simply use search to find the song and open it - once I get back from the search screen, the main screen still shows the current setlist. And if you make the right setting, the song played before going to search for the request is highlighted in blue, so you know where to continue. I have found this good enough for our typical kind of gig where we tend to stick pretty much to our pre-arranged setlist. For other, more spontaneous settings, you might be better off simply using a "book" view or just "all songs".
BTW: the situation is different for the Windows version: that one doesn't have the sync feature built-in, so it accesses the file system directly. So you don't need to use Dropbox for the Windows version (although it also helps) - you can make your edits directly to your files locally. You can still use Dropbox to sync files between machines or musicians, but then the syncing and conflict handling is managed outside LivePrompter.
Hope this clarifies!
Cheers,
Torsten
