Our drummer regularly uses a click track during live performance. It would seem easy to use the {d_time:0:00} code to control flow, but I have noticed that if I drop the Click track (it is an MP3 file) into Audacity, and work from that, many longer arrangements seem to need additional time. I have a six minute medley we are working on right now that I have had to add 25 seconds to the time to keep the lyrics at the right place on the screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Rick

Hi Rick,
I'll definitely look into that - can you share the song file?
And are we talking LivePrompter classic (Windows) or mobile (Android)?
Cheers,
Torsten

Hi Rick quick update: I just ran through a quick 7-minute test file both on Android and Windows, and timing was pretty much spot-on. I set "screen focus" to 50%, so it was easier to check where the current line should be (center of the actual song screen) and ran it with a stopwatch. The longer line after the d_time tag was pretty much exactly in the middle of the screen on the full minute. Can you check this on your installation?
Cheers,
Torsten

Torsten,
I use the Windows version to "test" my files as I work on them. That's where I saw the issue.
Let me try the 50% setting and a test file as you suggested.
Is there a screen setting in the Android version too?
Thanks!
Rick

yes - you find it in Song Display -> Scrolling

Let me try the 50% setting and a test file as you suggested. If you send me the song file via info(at)liveprompter.com, I can take a look at it on my setup - maybe there's something in the song file that could cause timing issues. Cheers, Torsten

Torsten,
I emailed you.
I REALLY like this program! Like I say in my email, I'm probably doing something I shouldn't....
Thanks!

OK, thanks for sending me the file; that helped!
Initially, I suspected the {textsize} tags that you sprinkled throughout the song, but these actually were unproblematic. You do know that the Windows version of LivePrompter only accepts one textsize per song - and it uses the last one it encounters when parsing the song file - OK? Android is different - I completely reworked the rendering engine, so you can go crazy with textsizes.
It looks like there is an issue with the Windows version when it comes to removing multiple empty lines - seems like I forgot to make the speed calculation compensate for removed lines. Once I removed the double empty lines, your song file scrolled nicely in time - not always perfect, but pretty much within one line of the target. So definitely a bug in LivePrompter Classic!
I'll see if I can get a new build out over the next day that fixes that issue!
Thanx for finding this!
Cheers,
Torsten

Torsten,
I find this hilarious....
Last night (while I should have been sleeping) I woke up and thought to myself... "self.... Torsten's sample had no blank lines!"
I just put a dash at every blank, and it worked fine.
I logged on to tell you....
And here we are!
Thank you again.

Quick addition: just tested everything on my Android tablet - looks like the new rendering engine deals well with the empty lines - pretty much perfect timing with your song.
So I'll just have to revisit the "classic" application...

Torsten

All right - I found a way to work around the issue. New version (build 1.106) is online for download now - should work better with your multiple line breaks.
Had to build a somewhat sloppy workaround to avoid a complete re-factoring of the parsing code, so hope I didn't break anything 😉...
Give it a try and let me know if things are better now!
Cheers,
Torsten

I will give it a shot tomorrow.
As I have said many times about you.... "You da man!"
