Hi. Thanks for the great piece of software. It will really help me do what I've had planned once I get it to work.
I must have something set up wrong.

I've been using MIDI for live and in the studio for decades so I'm not a beginner, but this has got me stumped - I'm sure it's something easy.

I want Ableton to load lyrics files on a program change at the start of a sequence.
I've edited the LivePrompter.ini file to add only the MIDI input commands that I need to do this:

MidiInPort=iRig MIDI 2

MidiInChannel=4

MidiInPC=yes

MidiChangeToAllPC=yes

My home directory is set to C:/lyrics.

Within that directory I have a directory called 'MIDI'.

Within that directory I have a text document named 'MidiReceive"

text in that file:

0.1,Amie

0.2,American Girl

0.8,Dust On The Bottle

These correspond exactly to the names of .txt files that are in C:\lyrics.

I can see my iRig midi interface getting data when I send a bank 0 PC1 on CH4 from my sequencer, but Live Prompter never responds.

Any help in what I might have done wrong would be appreciated,

It must be I have something setup wrong with the file names or locations or something...

Hello tamoore, I was just wondering if you ever found a solution to this problem. I have the same issue in reverse. I'm trying to get Liveprompter to send PC messages to outboard gear without any success. I'm able to send CC messages just fine so that rules out port and connection issues. Like you, I also have a fair amount of experience with MIDI but I just can't seem to figure this one out. Thanks for any help.

For anyone still trying to MIDI config working, here is mine and it works.
As you can see I'm using loopMIDI as a virtual port.

MidiInPC=yes
MidiInKeys=yes
MidiInPort=loopMIDI Port
MidiInChannel=omni
MidiOutPort=loopMIDI Port

I've been playing with this for a while now and am using the midi out to control my PODxt and Variax. The missing bit of the puzzle that took me a lot of head scratching to figure out was that the virtual midi port, in my case LoopBe, needed a routing program to get it to talk to the POD. I use midiOX as you can configure routings in and out and monitor what commands are going through. midiOX and LoopBe and whatever your in/out device need to be running and virtually connected before you run Live Prompt. Hope this is helpful.
