I am really enjoying LivePrompter!
And as a Cantabile user, I'm looking into taking the plunge and having LivePrompter drive the train with Cantabile. Before I dive into the fray though, I only see a brief mention of song states and how they are handled. Am I missing something in the documentation.
Thanks!

Hi Rick,
LivePrompter doesn't do much with song states - all it does when using Cantabile Connect is to display a quick alert box whenever you change a song or song state in a set list to let you know directly on your LivePrompter tablet that Cantabile has successfully changed state. Helpful in some cases, but not earth-shatteringly important... So no changing song states from LivePrompter - you'll need to do that directly in Cantabile or with your MIDI controller.
Also, you could send MIDI messages from Cantabile to the special "LivePrompter" MIDI port to control the LivePrompter buttons (up/down) - that could be driven by state change bindings if that is of any use (not to me). I use this MIDI port CC 6 feature to bind buttons on my controller to LivePrompter buttons.
But TBH, in my current setup, I prefer using the MIDI control feature - I can do everything via MIDI that the direct Cantabile Connection can do, and I don't need a network connection. I simply tell my tablet to treat the USB connection to my PC as MIDI, and I have a wired MIDI port between my Cantabile PC and my LivePrompter tabled. And I use a powered USB hub for that connection, so it even charges my tablet...
In MIDI mode, I use a background rack binding in Cantabile that sends Song and SongState to LivePrompter via SysEx to drive the MidiAlert feature of LivePrompter. Achieves the same thing that the "show song/ state changes" feature does with Cantabile Connect.
Cheers,
Torsten

Torsten,
Thanks for the update. All good points! I thought maybe I missed something, but I can already see what you did and how I can implement that.
Good day!
Rick
