I know I can highlight lyrics with the > < but there are sections that only one other singer sings and others where it's multiple harmonies or different singers. giving each a color could be helpful. Thank you btw to creating this.

I thought about this as well and I was going to request it.
Torsten - Possibly a setting in the advanced setting menu like below?
>< = GREEN
>><<= ORANGE
>>><<<=LIGHT BLUE

Hmmm, sounds doable. I'd have to spend some time on this to make sure it doesn't break anything and is compatible across "classic" and "mobile", but I'll put it on the backlog.
Mind you, my current priority is getting MIDI for the mobile version done, then I might take a closer look at this.
Cheers,
Torsten

I would vote for this too. I am currently using LyricPad, and it allows you to highlight text with {}, [], or <>. It is helpful on the dimly lit stage.
Thanks!

I am currently using LyricPad, and it allows you to highlight text with {}, [], or <>. Rick Definitely won't work with LivePrompter like that - {} and [] are reserved. But I'll try to think of something that isn't too messy and works😉

I have gotten around this by using the {cco:text} through {cc9:text}. 10 colors, and you can sandwich those commands between the {textsize:X} commands.
{textsize:130}
{cc0:My Text To Display}
{textsize:90}
The only "limitation" is that your highlighted test has to be the only thing on the line (or so it seems.)
This works great in my case.

Yes, definitely a way to use the ccx: command if you're not using it for musician-specific instructions.
Still thinking about how to best implement the multiple hightlight styles. Multiple angled brackets seems a bit cludgy and error-prone to edit
This is a line >with< >>multiple<< >>>highlights<<<
I'm thinking about using the slanted apostrophes for alternative highlights
This is a line >with< ´multiple´ `highlights`
And for whole line/block marking use {soh2} {soh3}
Also, not planning any nesting of highlights (insert highlight2 within highlight1 and going back to highlight1 when done with 2...) - too much hassle for little benefit. This will be just a simple addition, not a complete refactoring of the rendering algorithm...
What do you guys think?`
Cheers,
Torsten

Quick update after some brainstorming with band members: current thinking is to have more than 3 different highlighs; thinking about 5. We have three singers who share lead duties, so we'll be using the "normal" color for the designated lead singer, and three separate highlights for the others who can then come in for individual phrases and lines. A fourth color then for "all" singers, and a fifth one just in case...
Using multiple angled brackets for that is just not practical, so current thinking is to use a digit after the opening bracket to identify the comment (no digit meaning 1). So it would look like this:
This is a line >with< >2multiple< >3highlights<
This would be a bit of a breaking change - the only cases this would affect are those where someone put a digit right after the highlight, e.g. for a count-in: >1 - 2 - 3 - 4<
Easily fixed by adding a digit - >11 - 2 - 3 - 4<, but initially, this could make some songs look funny until corrected.
Not too grave, so I think an acceptable change.
What do you think?
Cheers,
Torsten

An iOS lyric-scrolling app I use (MySongBook) has some custom highlight options between +pluses+ or =equals= or %percents%. I've enjoyed that option. And they can be turned off globally, in case someone has +=% etc in the lyrics themselves.
