A question on this came up in the Support forum, the answer may be useful for others who want to control LivePrompter with foot switches. There are two main options for foot pedals: first, you can use any USB pedal that can send the key presses that LivePrompter understands (see the manual - LP uses the arrow keys, return, space, page up/ down). Any USB pedal that can be configured to send these keys can be used for LivePrompter - you can buy them pretty cheap on Amazon, with one or multiple pedals. Set it to send keys from the above list and make the corresponding settings in LivePrompter.ini (see chapter 6.6)
I've also built a couple of Arduino-based foot pedals using the Teensy micro-controller (really just a simple setup that sends keypresses via USB when a footswitch is activated), so if you're a DIY person, that could be an alternative route... The second route would be to use a MIDI pedal like e.g. the Xsonic Airstep and control LivePrompter via MIDI commands. You need to be able to set the MIDI pedal to send either Note-On or Control Change commands, then LivePrompter can be configured to react to these (see chapter 7). Hope this helps! Cheers, Torsten

Quick addition to the above topic regarding wireless foot switch control:
LivePrompter will take instructions from anything that can either send key presses or MIDI commands. So if you want to go wireless, there are a number of Bluetooth pedals that will do the job. I recommend the AirTurn range of Bluetooth pedals (BT200S) - they're available with 2, 4, or 6 buttons. When set to their MODE 2 or 3, they will send keypresses that LivePrompter can deal with (arrow keys, space, return, PgUp/Down).
The AirTurn pedals can also send MIDI, but LivePrompter isn't compatible with Bluetooth MIDI, so you'd have to fiddle with some tools to send the Bluetooth MIDI to a "virtual MIDI port" that LivePrompter can deal with. Probably not worth the hassle...
Of course, your LivePrompter PC/tablet needs to have Bluetooth capabilities for that. Most tablets and laptops do these days, but there are cheap Bluetooth "dongles" if yours doesn't.
Cheers,
Torsten

To dumb this down a bit for others like me ... 1) Download the Airturn app on iphone/ipad. 2) Connect the pedal and update pedal within the app if needed. 3) Within the app Configure the pedal button commands by mode, (I chose to configure mode 2). >In other words, choose which pedal button sends which keyboard command. I chose pedal button #1 to be the space or universal key, #2 page up, #3 page down #4 no function. I chose no function for button 4 because I didn't want to ruin my set with an inadvertant button strike and botch the whole setup. 4) Save your changes on the pedal configuration within the app. Don't forget! Go back into configure to confirm your selections were saved. 5) Turn off bluetooth on iphone/ipad, OR forget the pedal / device. This again, prevents and inadvertent connection failures in the future. 6) Turn on pedal and connect pedal to PC. 7) Select Mode 2 on pedal (check pedal manual for how to do that) 8) Open liveprompter and verify pedal function. *If you do not see the pedal working as you intended, try closing liveprompter and reopening.

Hey there!
What Airturn Pedal can you recommend? Yeserday I tested the Airturn DUO BT500 and I was not happy with it: only two Pedals are not enough I think. (?) left Pedal: start a song/flip back when it runs right Pedal: flip forward For getting to the next song, I have to go down and use my finger :-( Unfortunately, the Pedal does not react sometimes. In this case I have to press four or five times until it works. Because of that im going to send it back. What about the Airturn BT500S-4? Has anybody experience with that pedal? I think it could be the better choice: - 4 Pedals - Knobs like effect-pedals. maybe more reliable?! Thanx for your answer! Cheers

What Airturn Pedal can you recommend? Honest answer: it depends😉 I have some users that have settled on a single USB pedal that they have configured to "universal key", so it works as Play/Pause during a song, and as "next song" when a song is at the end of the scroll. This is the easiest way to get through a gig with one pedal alone, without ever having to "go down and use your finger" - see the Help page for using the Universal Key When I'm in a "campfire" setting with just my guitar, I usually have an iRig BlueTurn by IK multimedia in my guitar case. It has two nicely-lit buttons. I use the "up" button for Universal key (play/pause/next song) and the "down" button to skip down a bit. This config works nicely for me - when I forget to start scrolling, I can use the "down" key to catch up; when I play slower than the original tempo, I can use the "pause" function ("up" key) to stop scrolling for a bit, then continue again. This is a config that generally works well enough with two buttons. For our rehearsal room, I built a couple of three-button pedals that are configured universal - up - down. Of course, you can go completely overboard and get a 6-button Airturn pedal, so you have play/pause - up - down - reset - previous song - next song. But personally, I'd find that overkill in a gig situation... Cheers, Torsten

Okay - thank you Torsten! That helped! Sorry for not reading your manual before asking questions. I´m a typical male user: test immediately... without reading I like your App very much! Thanks a lot for sharing!

Landlocked MAriner, I'm sorry it took so long for me to respond to your question and I noticed that no one responded so here goes:
I use the Airturn DUO BT500 that you mentioned. I love it. Sometimes I velcro it to my pedalboard and in open Mic situations where the board doesn't travel I take the pedal solo. If my songs are timed correctly I don't need to touch it,.. Also I highly recommend the V1 Barefoot button. These not only improve your accuracy, they are easier to see in your peripheral vision. My anykey is chrome/silver, the scroll back is red and the scroll forward is green. This is especially helpful and intuitive when someone else is using your gear.

Yes Sir you did, sorry I meant a specific answer to the specific model he asked about. I did enjoy your reply, Torsten, and like the idea of the backlit Irig Blueturn and I thought about picking one up for some experimenting.
The six button Airturn does seem overkill, but the other day I was looking at lighting and saw that a footpedal could change stage lighting modes... and of course I got interested. I'm getting a bit off track but looks are important and I'm super interested in lighting. This may be a reason to buy the 6 button pedal.
Ok way off track here..

I'd like to use a single USB-Padal for manual scroll (section to section) and at he end d of the songtext it shoud go to the next songtext. Is it possible to program it like that ?

I'd like to use a single USB-Padal for manual scroll (section to section) and at he end d of the songtext it shoud go to the next songtext. Is it possible to program it like that ? if you assign that pedal to the "Universal key" (Settings->Keyboard->Universal Key), it might do what you want. "Universal" means that within a song, it acts as "play/pause", when the song is in "finished" mode, it will act as "next". Just not 100% sure if it does what you want with manual scroll - but give it a try Cheers, Torsten
