how do you input a song into the song list? You create a text file in your song folder (directory), give it a meaningful title and put your lyrics and chords into that text file. If you've set your preferences correctly, LivePrompter will find and display all text files in this directory.

I cannot seem to get the prpompter to find the songs in my list. On startup I changed the directory file in the ini file? Hey Lee, Just to be sure: did you read the manual that comes with LivePrompter? All song files need to be text file (extension .txt) - LivePrompter should at display the file names of any text file it comes across in your Song Folder. If there are text files there and LivePrompter doesn't list them, probably something is wrong with the path in the ini file. I have built a diagnostics tool - see this article. Can you download it, put it into your LivePrompter program directory (the one with LivePrompter.exe in it) and start it? Then share the results of the diagnostics here - I'm sure we can get you up and running...
Cheers,
Torsten

Torsten. Thank you so much for your reply it is appreciated. I did read the manual and come up with the below (I took the address from properties on the folder and then the share tab)
; >>>> ; >>>> be sure to set the path to your songs directory here ; >>>> FAYEANDLEE-PC\Users\Faye and Lee\Desktop\SONG LIST
the diagnostics tool says
Reading configuration LivePrompter.ini --- Could not open .INI file
Song file location: 0 songs found No Setlists subdirectory found in songs folder 0 books found in your song files No Pictures subdirectory found in songs folder
*** MIDI *** Output Program Change: off Output Keys: off Output Port: --- none---, channel: 1
Input Program Change: off Input Keys: off Input Port: --- none---, channel: omni
No MIDI subdirectory found in songs folder

Sorry last one was wrong it is;
Reading configuration LivePrompter.ini --- incorrect format in line 4: "C:\Users\Faye and Lee\Desktop\SONG LIST"
------------------------------------------------------------------- Diagnostics are complete - you can now: - use the buttons at the bottom to send MIDI commands - send MIDI data to this program and have it displayed - re-run the diagnostics after making changes to your configuration - select a different INI file - export the output to a text file Thank you for using LivePrompter!

Reading configuration LivePrompter.ini --- incorrect format in line 4: "C:\Users\Faye and Lee\Desktop\SONG LIST" OK - the problem is that you seem to have deleted the beginning of the line. Correct the line to read:
HomeDirectory=C:\Users\Faye and Lee\Desktop\SONG LIST
It needs to start with the name of the setting and the "=", then the path to your songs without any quotes.
Cheers,
Torsten
