ok....so which foot pedal do you recommend using thats fully functional?? There are two main options for foot pedals: you can use any USB pedal that can send the key presses that LivePrompter understands (see the manual - LP uses the arrow keys, return, space, page up/ down). Any USB pedal that can be configured to send these keys can be used for LivePrompter - you can buy them pretty cheap on Amazon, with one or multiple pedals. Set it to send keys from the above list and make the corresponding settings in LivePrompter.ini (see chapter 6.6)
I've built a couple of Arduino-based foot pedals using the Teensy micro-controller (really just a simple setup that sends keypresses via USB when a footswitch is activated), so if you're a DIY guy, that could be an alternative route... The other option with LivePrompter would be to use a MIDI pedal like e.g. the Xsonic Airstep and control LivePrompter via MIDI commands. You need to be able to set the MIDI pedal to send either Note-On or Control Change commands, then LivePrompter can be configured to react to these (see chapter 7). Hope this helps! Cheers, Torsten
------------ Torsten,
I'm finalizing my teleprompter cabinet and will be buying a computer soon and am now planning the next steps;
I'm planning on buying a "ASUS - 14.0" Laptop - Intel Celeron N4020 - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC" from Best Buy which is Windows based and has bluetooth functionality.
I've heard mixed responses on whether I can use an "AirTurn BT500S-4 Controller" without too much hassle. I really want to be able the pedal to handsfree adjust song speed while playing.
I still have to download the manuals and read them all, but can you give any insight before I order all this stuff?

Hey there, I don't know the Machine you are planning to buy, so can't say if it will or will not work in for what you are planning to do. LivePrompter is generally not very resource-hungry, so you have a good chance... Regarding Foot-Pedals: note - there is no option to adjust song speed via a foot pedal; all you can do with a foot pedal is start / pause scrolling or fast-scroll up and down by a bit. Everything having to do with scroll speed needs to be set in your song file, either via a {duration:...) tag or in more detail via {d_time:...} tags.
Regarding the AirTurn controller, I haven't had any issues with it so far. Still, I mostly use "wired" USB pedals, just for cost reasons - they're cheap to buy or build, and they just work. So unless you really absolutely need a wireless solution, I'd recommend to go for a simple USB pedal, as long as you have a machine with a free USB port.
It's a different story with Android tablets - usually, I want to use their USB-C-port to charge the thing, so there's a more compelling reason to go for a wireless solution.
Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Torsten

Thanks. So when you say "down by a bit", the speed or amount that defines the "bit" is something I would preset in the song file setup coding?

Thanks. So when you say "down by a bit", the speed or amount that defines the "bit" is something I would preset in the song file setup coding? The "bit" is by default 30 % of a page. If you want to adjust that, you go to LivePrompter's settings file, LivePrompter.ini, and set a value for "HalfPageAmount=..." - if you want LivePrompter to skip by a true half page, set this value to 50, if you want smaller steps, try 20. Note: this is not a song-by-song setting, but a general one across all songs. That's why it is set in LivePrompter.ini, not in the song file. The speed for this "fast-scrolling" is something you can also define. The default is usually good enough for keeping up with the scroll, but you can use the LivePrompter.ini setting "FastScrollSpeed=..." to adjust. Default is 20 - just play with it. I really suggest you do a bit of reading - the interesting stuff about LivePrompter's scroll control is documented here: www.liveprompter.com/help/help-classic/getting-started/scrolling/ Cheers, Torsten
