downloaded the program, went to the manual and it says I need a "song Folder" and a path to it. Is this another download I need? It does not show any instructions on getting a song folder.

The song folder is simply a directory on your PC / notebook / tablet. The path to it is simply the place where this directory is on your drive, e.g. C:\users\chuck\documents\liveprompter

downloaded the program, loaded a song folder, started the program, loaded a song, it says "Ready", I hit the Play/Pause green button the bottom and instead of scrolling it jumps downscreen and stops. Says "Paused" Won't scroll no matter what. What am I doing wrong?

...instead of scrolling it jumps downscreen and stops. Says "Paused" Won't scroll no matter what. What am I doing wrong? In order to scroll, LivePrompter needs to know how fast to scroll - you do that by telling it the duration of the song (minutes:seconds) with the tag {duration:...}, e.g. {duration:3:03). Now LivePrompter can calculate the scrolling speed and will scroll through the song at a constant tempo.
For this, the "AutoScroll" setting in LivePrompter.ini must be on/true - but if you haven't set it, it is on by default.
You can fine-tune scrolling with special tags - read the Section "Scroll Control" in the manual.
BTW: don't worry if auto-scrolling doesn't start right away: this is on purpose. You don't want the first lines of a song to disappear immediately, so LivePrompter waits for a while. But you see the title bar turn green, so you know that scrolling has started internally...
Cheers,
Torsten

Hi...the answer on duration is helpful. But where in the TXT file of the lyric should that tag be placed?

... where in the TXT file of the lyric should that tag be placed? It doesn't really matter - LivePrompter reads the whole file before displaying it. But it is generally a good idea to put all the metadata (title, artist, tempo, key, duration) at the very beginning of the song file. Note: each of these tags needs to be on a separate line Cheers Torsten

OK thanks....Can you post an example please? Sure, here goes: {title:Jumpin' Jack Flash} {artist:Rolling Stones} {duration: 03:57} {tempo: 135} {key:B} {book:Cränk} Intro: [B E A E] {c:--- 4x Guitar Riff}
Verse 1: I was [B]born in a cross-fire hurricane And I [B]howled at my ma in the driving rain ...
this is the typical beginning of a song file in my song folder Hope this helps! Cheers, Torsten

ok....so which foot pedal do you recommend using thats fully functional?? There are two main options for foot pedals: you can use any USB pedal that can send the key presses that LivePrompter understands (see the manual - LP uses the arrow keys, return, space, page up/ down). Any USB pedal that can be configured to send these keys can be used for LivePrompter - you can buy them pretty cheap on Amazon, with one or multiple pedals. Set it to send keys from the above list and make the corresponding settings in LivePrompter.ini (see chapter 6.6)
I've built a couple of Arduino-based foot pedals using the Teensy micro-controller (really just a simple setup that sends keypresses via USB when a footswitch is activated), so if you're a DIY guy, that could be an alternative route... The other option with LivePrompter would be to use a MIDI pedal like e.g. the Xsonic Airstep and control LivePrompter via MIDI commands. You need to be able to set the MIDI pedal to send either Note-On or Control Change commands, then LivePrompter can be configured to react to these (see chapter 7). Hope this helps! Cheers, Torsten

You mention USB foot pedal. Will the app take instructions from a wireless USB? or Bluetooth pedal? Hi Steve, LivePrompter will take instructions from anything that can either send key presses or MIDI commands. If you want to go wireless, there are a number of Bluetooth pedals that will do the job. I recommend the AirTurn range of Bluetooth pedals (BT200S) - they're available with 2, 4, or 6 buttons. When set to their MODE 2 or 3, they will send keypresses that LivePrompter can deal with (arrow keys, space, return, PgUp/Down). The AirTurn pedals can also send MIDI, but LivePrompter isn't compatible with Bluetooth MIDI, so you'd have to fiddle with some tools to send the Bluetooth MIDI to a "virtual MIDI port" that LivePrompter can deal with. Probably not worth the hassle... Of course, your LivePrompter PC/tablet needs to have Bluetooth capabilities for that. Most tablets and laptops do these days, but there are cheap Bluetooth "dongles" if yours doesn't. Hope this helps! Cheers, Torsten
