What is the trick to getting the up/down to actually jump to a position that one would expect?
i.e. If the document is 20 lines long, and currently displaying lines 1 thru 10, one would expect the arrow down (page down) to move line 11 to the top of the screen. Mine only advances like 2 lines, so line 3 is at the top of the screen, but I'm looking for the next line that is currently off the screen (line 11). This means multiple 'stomps' = one...
Note: not using any duration or autoscroll. Just planning to use the page turner floor pedal 2 or 3 times within a song.
Is there a setting I am missing?
It would be great to just use the {pause} tag where I want the page down to go to. Has anybody done that in a manual situation (not using autoscroll)?

When you aren't using durations / automatic scrolling, things work as follows: - up/down arrows move the screen by the amount defined in settings (Song Display --> Half Page Scroll)
- Play/Pause button moves the screen one page down (defined in settings Song Display --> Full Page Scroll)
See the manual: Manual Scrolling. If you want to define explicit stops using the pause tag, you'll have to give the song a duration tag to enable automatic scrolling. Use a short duration (e.g. 0:10), so the scroll speed gets very fast, then sprinkle in pause-tags to make LivePrompter stop and wait for you to allow it to continue scrolling to the next pause tag. You'll have to use the Play/Pause button (or according pedal), not the up- or down-button to use the pause tag. Cheers, Torsten

Thanks for the helpful info. I tried the 2nd option "define explicit stops". Below is my test song file. Still not stopping at the pause tags, but instead, at other seemingly random places. SETTINGS: FULL PAGE SCROLLING (Tried 70 and 100) with no apparent differences) using the play/pause assigned to the space bar on my laptop. START SCROLLING WITH DOWN BUTTON = OFF AUTOMATIC SCROLLING = ON TRAILING BLANK SPACE = 0 TEXT SIZE=64 In this test file, you will see that the first few lines of the first verse are never actually displayed. Not visible before hitting play, and scrolled past after the first time hitting play. {title: Wagon Wheel} {subtitle:Songwriters: Bob Dylan, Ketch Secor} {artist: Darius Rucker} {key:A} {Capo:2} {color:r} {energy:10} {duration:10} {pause} INTRO: | | | | [E] | | | | [F#m] | | | | [D] | | | | | | | | [E] | | | | [F#m] | | | | [D] | | | | | | | | [E] | | | | [D] | | | | [D] | | | |

The pause tag will stop scrolling with the current line at the "screen focus". This is a position on the screen somewhere between the top and the bottom of the window, defined in settings. For automatic scrolling, it doesn't really make sense to have the current line at the very top of the screen - you'll want a healthy part of the song before and after the current line on-screen to deal with tempo variations and the general difference between the text lines and the actual progress of the song. That's why LivePrompter manages scrolling so that the current position in the song gets aligned with the so-called "screen focus" that you can define in settings (Song Display-->Scrolling).
Since Automatic Scrolling mode is built for (duh) automatic scrolling, not manual scrolling, a screen focus of 0% doesn't really make sense, so settings currently only allow you to set it between 20% and 80% - using super-short duration and pause tags is really just a hack... So the best you'll achieve with this approach is having the pause position about one-fifth off the top of the lyrics window. Of course you could fiddle with the position of the pause tags to get the line you want to the top of the screen, but I'd find this a bit tedious...
If you really don't want to get into automatic scrolling, it might be better for you to use manual scrolling and the Play button to advance by a full page.
Generally, LivePrompter is focused on smooth and timed scrolling, less for a "page-by-page" mode of super-large type text. There are other programs that may do that better. Maybe simply PowerPoint? Or sheet music programs like MusicReader - these are focused on manual page turning.
LivePrompter is not trying to be everything for everyone...
Cheers,
Torsten

Quick update on this: next version (currently in extended testing phase, since there are a number of changes and new features in it) will have the ability to set Screen Focus to 0, so the "pause hack" will work like you expect, with the line after the "pause" instruction at the top of the screen. I would actually recommend to set Screen Focus to 5 instead of 0, because at fast scroll speed, scrolling may overshoot the line you want to see at the top and chop part of it off. Using Screen Focus 5 will avoid that.
I tested this with your song file (Wagon Wheel), and it seems to work nicely.
So have a bit of patience - next version will be out in the next couple of weeks.
Cheers,
Torsten
