I built a folding LP wedge ala michigander using a Mac mini and Dell 20" display and was pretty happy with it. Then Thorsten mentioned Raspberry Pi in a comment on one of these forum threads and it got me thinking how nice it would be to ditch the mini.
I got a RPi 4 b2 and installed Android 13 on it as per this link
I tried KonstaKANG's android 14 but the system wouldn't boot when plugged into the HDMI port on the Dell due to HDMI-CEC problems with that build. So I got 13 installed and thought everything was golden, the RP is so tiny and LP appear to work fine.
Then the devil in the details reared its ugly head.
First I couldn't get my bluetooth mouse to pair in Android, then I couldn't get my my Airturn BT500 to pair either. So I thought fine, as Thorsten had suggested in a feature request I started as a guest, it would be best to drive it via LPconnect using an iPad anyway. But lo and behold LPconnect commands are not having any effect on the slave.
Using the diagnostics, I can see the song change commands coming into the system but the slave doesn't update. I thought it might be a HDMI-CEC problem so connected a monitor that supports it but that did not change the problem. Part of the problem may be that though I get a LP notification that the slave is connected, I have to manually connect via the diagnostics LPconnect screen in order to get events from the master.
I'm not calling this a bug because this whole system is such a a collection of hacks. I just thought I'd let you all know about the issue and see if anyone else has had success with such a system.
Maybe I'll see if it works with Android 14 and a HDMI-CEC monitor. If it does, I'll report back here.
