Is there any way to display the tempo tag in the list or song view, or both?
I suppose I could use WSL and write a shell script to duplicate and edit the tags as comments for the song view, but then they'd always be shown.

No, tempo is only used for the metronome in the status bar, not displayed.
And I don't really want to clutter up the view with too much detail - that's not the philosophy behind LivePrompter. Keep it simple and live-focused. I don't believe there is really a practical use in displaying the exact numerical song tempo in a live context (unless you'd want to type it into some external device or manual metronome).
If you just want to differentiate slow vs. fast songs, how about using the color or energy tags for the song list? And if you really need the exact tempo in song view, using a ("custom" if you don't want other musicians to see it) comment could help.

ok. Too often we practice without a drummer, and the keyboard player finds a backing drum track. Always a "discussion" between members... "that's too fast" or "no it's too slow!" Just realized I can use a printout from SetllistBuilder, which contains the tempo. The metronome is helpful too.

OK, I know these discussions ;-)
In doubt, I simply open the song file in a text editor to check the tempo, but the idea of having a printed list is also quite helpful.
Overall, I tend to rely on the metronome in Song view - for my drummer, I've made it extra-large 😂. When we're not rehearsing with our drummer, I either have rehearsal tracks or simply a metronome click from Cantabile. No discussions...
